following the definition of dead-media by bruce sterling
vinyl record, analog, k7, micro k7, compact-disc, dat, minidisc, each new audio
media invention has searched to replace the previous in both qualitative and
consumerist idea. this audio edition is a recording of the fabrication process ,
reading problems and the wear of the medium replace on itself. this produces
a "tautological" sound object , within all its history inscribed on itself, and devoted
itself to deteriorate.
it is by publishing those media that materialize a disappearance. (reviewed by barillet 04 pd)
